Air Canada Launches Brisbane-Vancouver Flights

VANCOUVER — Air Canada has launched service from Vancouver to Brisbane, Australia, the only non-stop service linking Canada and Queensland. On June 17, these Vancouver-Brisbane flights will ramp up to daily service.

“We are delighted to launch the only non-stop, year-round service between Canada and Brisbane, a significant commercial business hub and tourism gateway to one of Australia’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Great Barrier Reef and the beautiful Gold Coast. Our new Brisbane flights complement our daily flights between Canada and Sydney, solidying our market-leading postion as the airline providing the most seats between Canada and Australia,” said Benjamin Smith, president, passenger airlines, at Air Canada. “The seamless connections through in-transit pre-clearance facilities, combined with our extensive domestic Canada and USA network radiating from Vancouver, position YVR to be the preferred trans-Pacific gateway for business and leisure travellers alike.”

Air Canada’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft features 20 international business class lie-flat seat suites, 21 premium economy and 210 economy class seats with upgraded in-flight entertainment at every seat throughout the aircraft. Flights are timed to optimize connectivity to and from Air Canada’s extensive North American network through the airline’s Vancouver hub, while also offering in Brisbane connectivity across Australia. All Air Canda flights provide for Aeroplan accumulation and redemption and, for eligible customers, priority check-in, Maple Leaf Lounge access, priority boarding and other benefits.

As a reslt of its ongonng expansion, Air Canda provides scheduled passenger service directly to 64 airports in Canada, 55 in the U.S. and 87 in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central and South America. The new Vancouver-Brisbane service is part of Air Canada’s ongoing international expansion this year following the recent launch of Toronto-London Gatwick and  Toronto-Prague. This summer, Air Canada will also lauch new international services between Toronto-Budapest, Toronto-Warsaw, Toronto-Glasgow, Toronto-Seoul, Montreal-Casablanca, Montreal-Lyon, Vancouver-Dublin and, later this fall, Vancouver-Delhi. Last year, Air Canada launched new international services between Toronto-Delhi, Toronto-Amsterdam, Toronto-Dubai, Montreal-Venice, Montreal-Mexico City and Vancouver-Osaka.
