Toronto chef Alex Johnston has joined Hockley Valley Resort, in Orangeville, Ont., as executive chef, overseeing all restaurant and culinary operations at the property.
Born and raised in Toronto, Johnston worked in noted chef Jamie Kennedy’s organization as events and catering chef at JK Gardiner and chef of operations at JK Gilead production kitchen.
Most recently, Johnston was executive chef and owner of Provenance Regional Cuisine, a catering and retail food business that connects Torontonians with Ontario producers.
Jamie Kennedy Kitchens has taken over operation of that company.
Johnston’s arrival at Hockley follows the appointment of acclaimed chef Michael Potters to oversee a new and yet-to-be-named high-end restaurant.
Hockley’s recent makeover includes the addition of three new restaurants: Babbo, Tavola and Restaurant 85.
