Attendance at the ASAE Annual Meeting & Expo 09 has exceeded expectations, with over 4,800 association executives and related industry partners in Toronto for the three-day show that ended Tuesday.

Typically, 20 per cent of association executives who attend ASAE & The Center’s annual meeting book a meeting in the host city in the five years following the convention.

Toronto last hosted the ASAE in 1988. The annual expo featured a trade show with 433 booths; a charity fundraiser – the Food & Wine Classic (an annual fund-raiser for the ASAE, showcasing local chefs, plus food and wine pairings); an opening gala at the Distillery District; and a closing gala featuring Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman at Polson Pier.

The next three annual conventions are slated for Los Angeles, St. Louis and Dallas, but word on the street says that attendees were so impressed with Toronto that the ASAE Annual Meeting may be back in Toronto a lot sooner than expected.
