Australia Getting New Hotel and Convention Space

Four Points by Sheraton Sydney, Darling Harbour, together with owner M&L Hospitality, has embarked on a $200 million redevelopment plan that will spearhead the revitalization of Darling Harbour as one of the Australia’s leading meeting destinations.

The project includes the addition of a 222-room third tower to the hotel,  boosting the room total to 905. It also includes expansive new convention and exhibition space.

The new, 51,000-plus square feet of convention, meeting and event space will feature floor-to-ceiling glass windows, which will maximize natural light and provide uninterrupted water views of Darling Harbour. The  facilities will include two pillarless ballrooms, the largest with seating up to 1,100 theatre-style; breakout and meeting rooms; dedicated pre-function space; and state-of-the-art audio visual technology. Bar Eleven, Four Points by Sheraton Sydney’s open rooftop bar will continue to operate and provide guests with an alternative outdoor venue for special occasions, meetings and events.

Scheduled for completion by June 2016 for the convention space and October 2016 for the new tower, the new look hotel will also include a contemporary lobby area, offering new bar and restaurant concepts and design elements with sandstone accents, in keeping with the property’s heritage and the Four Points by Sheraton brand.

This new development phase follows the unveiling of a $30 million renovation, completed in 2013, which included the refurbishment of guestrooms, introducing a new Premium Room category; enhancements to the Corn Exchange Restaurant and Grand Ballroom; and the introduction of four new Heritage Meeting Rooms, providing meeting planners with contemporary, warehouse-style spaces.

Located on Sussex Street overlooking the Darling Harbour precinct, Four Points by Sheraton, Sydney, Darling Harbour, is Australia’s largest hotel with a current total of 683 rooms, including 17 suites.
