Kinnear Centre, Banff National Park.
The Kinnear Centre for Creativity & Innovation at The Banff Centre is the first facility in Banff National Park to attain LEED Gold Certification for new construction.
Designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects and opened in July, 2010, the Kinnear Centre was built to meet LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System certification.
Built as an interdisciplinary hub for The Banff Centre, the Kinnear Centre provides 60,000 sq. ft. in three storeys, with extensive meeting and conference facilities; rehearsal and performance space; informal gallery areas, the Maclab Bistro and the Paul D. Fleck Library & Archives.
The Kinnear Centre was constructed with an efficient exterior building envelope, sun shading to reduce energy use and an innovative stormwater-management system.
