With more than 600,000 sq. ft. of flexible exhibit and meeting space, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) is Canada’s top-rated convention and trade-show facility, and one of North America’s leading convention centres. The world-class performance venue has hosted the Gemini Awards, Miss Universe Canada, Canadian Idol, So You Think You Can Dance Canada auditions and many more memorable events, all highlighted by flawless execution in a truly professional setting.
The elegant setting of the John W.H. Bassett Theatre provides planners with a multitude of options for staging truly unique events. The flexible theatre can be used for general meetings, guest-speaker appearances, concerts, dinner-theatre events and much more. At the heart of the state-of-the-art theatrical facility, a large professional stage area is complemented by flexible lighting and sound, providing excellent acoustics and unobstructed sightlines from each of the venue’s plush, highbacked seats. In total, the theatre houses 1,330 individually numbered seats.
The versatility of the John W.H. Bassett Theatre makes it an ideal venue for any type of event, from intimate gatherings to larger events for between 300 and 1,330 people. In addition to the grandeur of the full performance hall, the theatre is comprised of several unique spaces, all ideal choices for annual general meetings, elegant pre- and post-performance dinners or receptions. Available spaces include a spacious lobby, orchestra pit, green room, warm-up room and seven dressing rooms.
Events held at the John W.H. Bassett Theatre include the food and beverage service of the MTCC’s renowned in-house catering team, whose delectable creations put the finishing touch on the venue’s most memorable occasions. Events held at the John W.H. Bassett Theatre are backed by the technical support services of Showtech Production, the facility’s exclusive staging contractor. The venue rental includes the use of a meetings-quality in-house sound system, while state-of-theart projection equipment for slide, film, overhead, video and data are all available through the contractor. The entire MTCC complex is wired for high-speed wireless Internet access and networking capabilities, while the contractor can assist with all additional electrical, multimedia, telecommunications, audiovisual and simultaneous translation requirements.
For all events held at the MTCC, an experienced sales team can assist planners in selecting the perfect meeting spaces suitable for their John W.H. Bassett Theatre event. An in-house event manager is assigned to all theatre events and will assist planners in coordinating every detail, from production meetings to pre-event inspections of the theatre, to ensure that all client needs are met.
The MTCC is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Toronto’s vibrant business and entertainment districts, and easily accessible by local transit and public highways. The Centre also has 1,700 indoor parking spaces to accommodate visitors. The facility is within walking distance of 13,000 hotel rooms, as well as a wide variety of the city’s major attractions, including the adjacent CN Tower and Rogers Centre.
