Bixi operates its bike-share programme in Montreal, with Ottawa and Toronto to come, in May.
The Public Bike System Company (PBSC) is introducing its bike-share service in Canada’s Capital Region in May, when Capital Bixi based on Montreal’s Bixi system, will launch.
The first phase of the service to be implemented by the National Capital Commission will include the installation of 10 stations with a total of 100 Capital Bixi bicycles in various locations throughout downtown Ottawa and Gatineau.
In Canada, the service operates in Montreal and is scheduled to launch in Toronto in May.
Other stations and bicycles can be added at a later date by the City of Gatineau and by the City of Ottawa. Long-term goals call for the introduction of 50 stations and 500 bicycles.
PBSC offers its bike-share system on three continents, to private campuses and cities such as London, Melbourne, Minneapolis, Washington, D.C. and Arlington, Va.
