The Board of Governors of Toronto’s Exhibition Place has voted unanimously in favour of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment’s (MLSE) initiative to improve BMO Field and expand seating. The improvements will be made in advance of the Toronto 2015 PanAm Games.
MLSE has actively recruited high performance players for the Toronto FC soccer team and now wishes to make improvements improvements to the field to enhance attendee experience.
“On behalf of the Board of Governors of Exhibition Place we are pleased to vote in favour of the BMO Field improvements and look forward to the consideration of this report by City Council,” says Councillor Mark Grimes, Chair of the Board of Governors of Exhibition Place. “Not only will the improvements be good for soccer, it will also allow MLSE to attract major new events to the grounds such as a National Hockey League’s Winter Classic event. Equally important is the proposal to bring the Toronto Argonauts to the facility and back ‘home’ to Exhibition Place.”
In Exhibition Place’s recently approved 2014-2016 Strategic Plan, the objective to actively support the expansion and enhancement of entertainment facilities was outlined.
