Canada was the scene of 231 international association events in 2008, making it number nine in the world for such events, according to the list issued by the International Congress and Convention Association.
For the fifth year in a row, the United States claimed first place, with 507 meetings. Ahead of Canada were Germany, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Brazil and Japan.
Vienna and Paris share the honour as the favourite cities for international meetings and conferences.
Full details will be published by ICCA in June, while the 10-year statistics report covering 1999-2008 will be published in July and will be available free online to ICCA members.
