Canadian Wins PCMA Chairman's Award

The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and its chairman of the board, Johnnie White, announced today that Heidi Welker, vice-president, Marketing, for Freeman Audio Visual Canada and the 2013 president of PCMA’s Canada East Chapter, is the winner of the 2013 Chairman’s Award.

The PCMA Chairman’s Award recognizes an individual or an organization for their unique achievements or contributions to the meetings industry in the previous year.

Welker, the 2013 President of PCMA’s Canada East Chapter has been instrumental in moving the chapter forward. Over the last few years she has worked determinedly to grow membership by 42 per cent, and created events to raise the chapter’s profile including the Canadian Innovation Conference, which drew 250 industry professionals from across the country and raised $9,200 for the PCMA Education Foundation.

When she first took on the Canada East Chapter presidency she set three goals: to stay current with portfolios and assist in challenges; recruit talented committee members who would help secure the future of the chapter’s board; and to put the chapter in financial order. She achieved all three.

“Heidi and the Canada East Chapter’s accomplishments over the last year are the embodiment of what this award means,” said White. “Heidi has gone to great lengths to ensure her chapter is the shining example to other PCMA chapters and has been committed to getting her members the best education possible.”

Welker and the Canada East Chapter were honored today in Boston at PCMA Convening Leaders Opening General Session.
