LVCVA officials take a hard-hat tour of the new Terminal 3 construction at Las Vegas' McCarran Airport.
Construction is about halfway completed on a new Terminal 3 building at Las Vegas’s McCarran International Airport.
Carrying on estimated cost of $2.4-billon USD, the new terminal, scheduled to open in 2012, is the largest component of the airport’s $3.5-billion capital improvement.
The facility will span nearly 1.9-million sq. ft. among three stories. Underground trams and aboveground roadways will carry travellers to the airport’s nearby D concourse and to the A, B, and C concourses at Terminal 1.
Terminal 3 will feature 14 gates, airline ticket counters and self-service kiosks, baggage claim halls, a multi-storey parking garage, retail and dining options, business-class lounge and separate security checkpoints on two floors.
When completed, the expansion will provide the airport with an overall capacity of more than 53-million passengers annually.
