Five-year-old Westin New York at Times Square is halfway through a $20-million renovation.
Highlights of the guestroom renovation include the addition of extra-long, veneer-topped solid maple wood headboards to bed configurations and glass coverings to desks and tabletops. The renovation also included new floor lamps, wall coverings, carpets, drapes and artwork and re-covered upholstered chairs and padded benches. Moreover, 32-inch LCD HD flat-screen televisions were installed and bathroom amenity carts were replaced with hanging shelves.
Bar 10, on the second-storey, is now open to the lobby via a new glass wall. Additionally, the 32 meeting rooms have been outfitted with $1.5-million in new carpets and wall coverings. In August, the Majestic Ballroom will be renovated.
Slated to begin in early 2009, the second phase will complete the guestroom renovation.
