Atlific Recognizes Top Achievers
Atlific Hotels recently honoured its top achievers at its annual National Conference held at Temple Gardens Mineral Spa Resort, in Moose Jaw, Sask. The Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour received the most awards, including general manager of the year, awarded to Francis Mairet, area general manager, Vancouver Island, who oversees the Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour and the new Vancouver Island Conference Centre, and director of sales of the year, awarded to Ken Boyd.
Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour was also named Marriott hotel of the year for North America.Also in Western Canada, the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites Vancouver Downtown won sales team of the year, whose members included John Jennings, Bonnie Everett, Angela van den Byllardt and Stephanie Lepsien.
Other winners included salesperson of the year, Peggie Mayo, Deerhurst Resort and Laura Arnold, Atlific Sea-to-Sky properties; newcomer of the year, Christopher Bassoo, director of sales, Residence Inn Marriott London; and team player of the year, Denise Breau, cluster director of sales for the Courtyard by Marriott Ottawa, Residence Inn by Marriott Ottawa and Hotel Indigo Ottawa.

Vancouver Convention Centre Names New VP, Sales and Marketing
The Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre (VCEC) has welcomed back a member to its leadership team, appointing Claire Smith, CMP, vice-president, sales and marketing.
VCEC’s former director of sales and client services, Smith brings over 20 years of experience to the position, in which she is responsible for strategic business development, leading and directing the VCEC sales department and positioning the facility in the global marketplace.
For the last three years, Smith has been the principal of her own consulting firm, where she provided business-development strategies for convention venues, bureaus, associations and event-management companies.
