SITE Crystal Awards Invites Entries

Deadline for submitting entries for the 2008 SITE Crystal Awards is July 25. This year’s award categories are: Most Effective Use of an Incentive Programme for a Strategic Business Solution; Most Outstanding Incentive Travel Award Programme; Most Outstanding Incentive Event;
Most Outstanding Sustainable Incentive Event.

Any incentive campaigns, special events or promotional campaigns related to an incentive/motivational programme held between June 1, 2007, and May 31, 2008 are eligible.

Winners receive a customized crystal vase; recognition before industry colleagues at the Crystal Awards ceremony during the SITE International Conference 2008, in Montreux, Switzerland; recognition on the SITE website following the ceremony; inclusion in the Crystal Awards press release distributed to trade publications; an individual press release to be distributed by the winner; feature coverage in the special Crystal edition of InSITE, SITE’s member newsletter; SITE’s endorsement and the official Crystal Awards logo to place on marketing materials.

Residence Inn Moncton Makes 2 Appointments

Rick Norman and Michelle Boudreau have been named general manager and director of sales, respectively, for the 133-suite Residence Inn, which opened June 26, in Moncton.

A 14-year hospitality-industry veteran, Norman comes to Moncton from the Keltic Lodge Resort and Spa, in Cape Breton, N.S., where he served as interim general manager on behalf of the property’s manager, New Castle Hotels & Resorts. Prior to that, he served as director of the rooms division for the Westin Nova Scotian, in Halifax.

Boudreau has worked in sales and marketing since 2001. She joins the Residence Inn’s launch team from the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites, in Moncton, where, for two years, she served as corporate sales manager and marketing manager.

Nita Lake Names Julian Owen-Mold Executive Chef

Nita Lake Lodge, in Whistler, B.C., has named Julian Owen-Mold executive chef. A native of England, Owen-Mold has worked in kitchens around the world, including Stephanie Alexander, in Melbourne, M’s in Hong Kong and Harvey Nichols and Noble Rot, in London, England. Most recently, he was chef de cuisine at Elixir, in Vancouver’s Opus Hotel.

Owen-Mold oversees the menu at JC’s Deli, the Lakeside Lounge and fine-dining Jordan’s Crossing.
