Expedia Corporate Travel (ECT) has bought Mississauga, Ont.-based Synergi Global Travel Management. In conjunction with that, ECT is changing its name to Egencia, an Expedia, Inc. company. Egencia¹s acquisition of Synergi will extend its Canadian presence and allow it to expand on its service and product offering to Canadian business travellers and companies who do business locally and globally.
Synergi is Egencia¹s first Canadian acquisition, following its 2006 opening of the first Canadian office, in Toronto. The acquisition will enhance Egencia Canada¹s existing team with additional experienced corporate travel professionals and will expand its customer base with key clients. The company plans to maintain its existing customer-service centre, to provide additional support to clients needing business-travel and meeting and incentives service.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close in mid-August.
