As the investigation into a potential security breach at self-serve check-in kiosks at Toronto’s Pearson Airport continues, it remains to be seen if other airlines will follow WestJet and disable credit-card use at the kiosks across the country.
As an alternative to credit cards, travelers can check-in at kiosks using their flight-confirmation number or passport, or via the Web, mobile device or at the counter, via an agent. WestJet continues to employ extra staff to assist travelers’ check-in.
Pearson’s kiosks serve 13 airlines, and at the time of writing, Air Canada, US Airways and Northwest, United and American Airlines had no plans to disable kiosk credit-card check-in.
