Peter Nielsen Named GM of Upcoming Nelsen Lodge

Boutique Hotels & Resorts of British Columbia has named Peter Nielsen general manager of the Nelsen Lodge, in Revelstoke, B.C., a new property set to open at the end of the year.

A veteran of the industry, Nielsen has worked in various capacities in hotels throughout B.C., including the Poet’s Cove Resort and Spa, on Pender Island, and The Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Most recently, Nielsen was the founding general manager of Oswego Hotel, in Victoria.

The first phase of the 221-suite Nelsen Lodge is scheduled to open the first of three buildings in December.

Fairmont Chateau Whistler Makes Three Appointments

The Fairmont Chateau Whistler has named Roger Soane general manager and appointed Samantha Jervis account director, tour and leisure sales and Mark Wood sales manager, Western U.S.

In 1990, Soane joined The Pan Pacific Hotel, Vancouver as director of food & beverage and held that position until 1995, when he was appointed director of operations, The Pan Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He has worked as director of operations at The Fairmont Empress; hotel manager, The Fairmont Banff Springs; and general manager at The Fairmont Palliser and The Fairmont Royal Pavilion. In 2005, Soane was named general manager, The Fairmont Empress.

From September, 2006, Jervis worked at King Pacific Lodge as associate director of sales, handling luxury tour operators and elite travel agents. From 2003 to 2006, Samantha lived in Marbella, Spain, working as the director of membership and sales for Revo 250 Private Luxury Members Club.

Since April, 2002, Wood was the art director for Princess Fine Arts, managing the daily operations of the Fine Arts programme on Princess Cruise Lines, including all sales and marketing and managing a team of 12. From September, 1995, to March, 2001, he was director, sales and marketing for Western Canada for The Holiday Network, where he managed a sales force of eight.
