Clarence McLeod Named Corporate Fairmont Gold Manager
Fairmont has named Clarence McLeod to the newly created position of corporate Fairmont Gold manager. Bringing with him nearly 20 years of hotel-related experience, McLeod most recently held the position of Fairmont Gold manager at The Fairmont Washington D.C, the chain’s first U.S. hotel to offer the Gold product.
McLeod will be responsible for managing, developing and executing on service and operational standards for Fairmont Gold, overseeing new openings and transitions, colleague training and development to establish new Fairmont Gold leaders, as well as redefining the service initiatives for the brand’s iconic hotels.
Initially, McLeod will focus on the growth and development of Fairmont Gold, which offers dedicated floors featuring residential-style rooms, a private check-in and check-out area and other amenities.
Val Schroder Leaves VisitBritain
After 37 years at VisitBritain, the last 20 as press and PR manager, Val Schroder is leaving the organization.
During her time at VisitBritain, Schroder worked under six different country managers. She joined the organization – then known as British Tourist Authority – in 1971 as an information officer, then became a PR assistant and, after that, was named press and PR manager
Schroder doesn’t know where she’s headed next, but says she may do some contract work.
