The Crane residential resort, for over 100 years part of the Barbadian hospitality scene, has won the Four-Diamond Award by the Automobile Association of America (AAA). Developed on a phased basis from its original 18 rooms during the past eight years, the resort features 202 rooms, five swimming pools and three restaurants.
Continuing its expansion, the Crane will, early next year, open a Barbadian retail village offering a 3,000-sq.-ft., duty-free store; small shops and boutiques carrying local art, fashion and food products; two restaurants; and a conference centre. The resort also expects to complete three phases of garden residences before the end of 2009, bringing its room total to 282.
In 2008, a total of 1,159 hotels received the AAA Four Diamond Award.
