Meeting Professionals International (MPI) hosted its first Global Certificate in Meeting Operations 1 (GCMO 1), in Qatar, which attracted more applicants than it could handle.
Presented in partnership with Qatar MICE Development Institute (QMDI), GCMO 1 is one of the newest components of MPI’s Global Knowledge Plan, and provided the opportunity to obtain an internationally recognized qualification in the Middle East.
Vice-president of global development Didier Scaillet said MPI plans to offer additional training and knowledge transfer programmes with QMDI in 2009.
In other news, MPI plans to open an office in Doha, Qatar. The initial focus of the new office will be the further deployment of the MPI Global Training Practice, to support the career development of meeting and event professionals in the Middle East.
