Toronto’s Westin Harbour Castle will be switching to eco-friendly Bullfrog Power, making it the first hotel in Ontario to sign on with the green power provider.
As of Jan. 1, 2009, the lobby and Chartroom bar will be bullfrogpowered with 100-per-cent green electricity, helping to reduce the hotel’s greenhouse gas emissions footprint.
Switching to Bullfrog will also allow clients who are hosting meetings or events at the hotel to bullfrogpower their events.
The amount of electricity used in the lobby and Chartroom Bar will be matched with clean, renewable energy injected onto the electricity grid by Bullfrog’s producers. All of Bullfrog’s power is sourced from EcoLogoM-certified wind and low-impact hydro sources.
Previously, the hotel had included digital temperature controls in guestrooms and used energy-saving Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs in guestrooms and public spaces.
