When Bear Mountain Resort, in Victoria, B.C., opens its new 18-hole golf course this spring, the property will boast Canada’s first 36-hole, Nicklaus-designed track.
Designed by Jack and Steve Nicklaus, the Mountain Course opened in 2003. Built at a lower elevation than the Mountain Course, the second, 6,981-yard track will be named the Valley Course and will feature the same West Coast rock and water features, preserving the original landscape and reducing environmental impact.
Scheduled to open in 2010, the Nicklaus Academy will offer a full-service golf academy with state-of-the-art Nicklaus technology. Bear Mountain Resort is one of the largest resort developments in Western Canada, covering 1,300 acres.
