The revamped website boasts a wealth of features that provide a wide range of useful services to meeting planners. By Sandra Eagle, May/June 2008
Time and knowledge are your most valuable resources. The evolution of the Internet and e-mail have compressed your timelines and provided a glut of information; some useful…some not. The completely redesigned Meetings & Incentive Travel website, www.meetingscanada.com, was built for a new breed of planner who needs immediate relevant information and the ability to save time.
Consider it the electronic version of our Meetings & Incentive Travel Buyers’ Guide, with some very powerful tools. After searching over 6,000 international suppliers by any keyword and/or category, you can submit multiple RFPs for unlimited events. You can also find what you need, by any number of event criteria, simply by using the advanced search function. Need a hotel with a minimum of 350 rooms, 10 suites, four breakout rooms, a ballroom and banquet seating for 500 in Calgary? Maybe you need a transportation company and an audio/visual supplier, too? And these listings are current, since suppliers have the ability to update their listing any time of the day or night, 365 days a year. In the coming months, we will be adding more international hotels, resorts and unique venues, plus more categories and related services.
The site also includes editorial content from past issues of M&IT, and we are working on archiving the magazine. All the M&IT archives on the site are searchable by keyword. Going forward, M&IT will be creating exclusive online stories and features; watch our weekly e-newsletter, M&IT-e, for more details. Moreover, we’re working on having our story content translated into French, to serve our bilingual readers, and we are working with the Canadian Association of Exposition Management (CAEM) to feature a series of online webinars.
On the road a lot? No problem. We’ve designed a mobile application so you can access the site on-the-go. Consider it a 6,000-plus rolodex of every meeting supplier and their services at your fingertips. Visit www.meetingscanada.com/mobile to get started.
Meeting planners are expected to do more with less and meetingscanada.com was built for this new breed of planner, you. Like M&IT and IncentiveWorks, meetingscanada.com is free to use, let us know what you think.
