Tourism Kelowna Opens Toronto Office

Tourism Kelowna has opened its first Toronto office. Pat Gappmayr, who has been named business development consultant, will handle sales out of that location.

“We are excited to have Pat join our team,” says director of sales Jennifer Horsnell. “Pat brings with her a depth of skill in sales and an on-the-ground presence in Toronto. She also has an extensive history of tourism sales, having worked for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Tourism Toronto. Currently, she owns her own consulting business, Pat Gappmayr Consulting, and has worked with Tourism Whistler in a similar capacity.”

Annemarie Reininger Named to ACTE Board

ReiningerAnnemarie Reininger, manager, Global Supplier Relations for MDS, Inc., has been named to the Association of Corporate Travel Executives’ (ACTE) board of directors. Reininger has worked for eight years in the hotel management industry, eight in the travel and expense management industry and two years in strategic sourcing and vendor management, plus another two in her current position as a global travel manager with MDS. She joined ACTE Canada leadership in 2005, became an ACTE Canada education leader in 2006 and was named ACTE Canada regional chair in 2007.

Reininger begins her two-year term on the ACTE board in January.

MPI Appoints Executive Advisory Council

Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has appointed an executive advisory council, made up of global industry leaders, tasked with providing an executive’s perspective on solutions to industry challenges and opportunities. Advising MPI management on the development of initiatives for global meeting executives, the group will also be asked to share perspectives for ongoing industry success with MPI’s 24,000 members around the world.

Chairing the council is a Canadian, Angie Pfeifer, CMM, assistant vice-president, corporate meetings, travel and incentives, Investors Group. The other Canadian sitting on the council is Patricia Kerr, BA, CMP, director of distribution sales support, Manulife Financial.
