The Hilton Toronto got into the spirit of things during eco-friendly Earth Hour, when, on March 29, between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm, Toronto-area residents and businesses were encouraged to switch off lights, appliances and other electricity gobblers.
Luxury U.S. brand Thompson Hotels plans to open in downtown Toronto next year.
Slated for the Wellington Street West and Bathurst Street area, Thompson Toronto will comprise 102 guestrooms (including approximately 19 suites), featuring 9-ft. ceilings, minimum 42-inch plasma TVs and wireless Internet.
Thompson Toronto will also house an 80-seat, high-end eatery fronting on Bathurst and a 200-plus-seat eatery, adjacent to the lobby and offering a bar, patio and private dining room. A rooftop bar, of approximately 150 seats, will feature an infinity pool, while a 3,500-sq.-ft. fitness facility will adjoin a 3,000-sq.-ft. outdoor terrace.
Multi-purpose function space, totaling 7,300 sq. ft. (and featuring 14-ft. ceilings and a lounge), will accommodate up to about 220 people and will include a 28-seat screening room.
Opening date hasn’t been finalized, but a spokesperson indicated it could be “early 2009 – winter.”
