Construction is underway on a $46-million renovation at Toronto’s Exhibition Place that will create a conference centre housing 74,000 sq. ft. of leading-edge, enviro-friendly meeting and ballroom space.
Targeted to meet LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) silver-rating design standards, a first in Canada, the renovation to the Automotive Building will respect the structure’s historical, Art Deco integrity. Moreover, the facility will provide lake views and natural light throughout the lobby, pre-function and meeting-room spaces.
The conference centre will work as a stand-alone venue or in combination with the adjacent, one-million-sq.-ft. Direct Energy Centre exhibition facility. Connecting the two buildings will be an underground walkway providing climate-controlled access from the exhibition halls and underground parking facilities.
Completion is expected for next spring.
