What does this mean to you? All meeting planners have dozens of different responsibilities. This summary shows the primary daily duties for an average planner. For example, in fig 3.2 if you earn less than $45,000/year, 95 per cent of your peers are planning meetings, 55 per cent are responsible for selecting destinations and only 21 per cent are doing incentive travel. The percentages don’t add up to 100 per cent as the average planner is working on most or all of these tasks. Years of experience is not directly associated; however, it is indirectly related, since more years of experience translates to higher remuneration.
Those earning more than $75,000/year (fig 3.5) are more likely to be responsible for all these duties, more likely to be the decision maker for destinations and venues, and are at least 50 per cent more likely to be doing incentive travel compared to those earning less.
