Wallpaper* and Fortune magazines have teamed up to compile a list of the 10 best new and refurbished business hotels in the world.

Joint Winner: The Four Seasons, Florence, Italy

Described as ‘extraordinary’ by the judges, the Four Seasons is steeped in history and brimming with original frescoes, bas-reliefs, stucco finishes and hand-painted silk wallpapers. Housed in a former 16th-century convent and a 15th-century palazzo, each of its 116 guestrooms and suites blends high-tech modern comforts with ancient charm and Renaissance art – and no two are the same. But what really steals the show are the 4.5 hectares of botanical gardens.

‘Park Hyatt sets the bar in Asia in terms of style, luxury, service, food and beverages,’ says judge Elizabeth Blau. Dramatically perched near the top of one of the world’s highest buildings, the hotel has a stunning lobby overlooking Shanghai. Inspired by traditional Chinese geometry and architecture, New York-based designer Tony Chi has created a modern residence in earthy tones and natural materials. Wallpaper* loves the high-ceilinged 100 Century Avenue restaurant, featuring art installations, live jazz and views to die for.
