Members and business partners of the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) Trillium Chapter got in the giving groove at the chapter’s Annual Holiday Season Dinner, raising $20,500 for Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving (OSAID).
The Motown-themed event, aptly named “Sparkle & Shine – Let’s Get It On,” was held December 2, 2014 at The International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.

“We have incredibly generous sponsors and we donate $10,000 of the sponsorship money received to the charity on their behalf,” says Tracy Blyth, executive director, CSAE Trillium Chapter. “Guests at the event raised the other $10,500. Our business members are as generous as our sponsors and they donated prizes, which were used for our Mystery Envelope and Gold Raffle Boxes activities.”
The “Mystery Envelope” activity offered guests the chance to purchase an envelope for $35, $70 or $100. Prizes weren’t revealed but were guaranteed to be worth more than the envelope purchase prize. “For example, for a $100 purchase you could win a weekend stay at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, or for $70 you could win an iPod,” explains Blyth.
The Gold Raffle Boxes activity gave guests the chance to win one of 13 great prizes including two tickets to anywhere Porter Airlines flies, golf foursomes with meals, two-night stay at Deerhurst Resort, and more. Blyth reports that this year’s raffle was a sell-out, with 267 boxes being sold for $20 each, raising $5,340 for OSAID.
