I like the hopeful feeling that ringing in the New Year brings. The anticipation of a brand-new year is energizing, because 2011 feels optimistically pivotal, a time for hopes to be cast and carried into the days, weeks and months that follow.
Birthdays and new school years do the same thing for me. I consider such occasions momentous, for they get me thinking about who I am now and what I believe I am here for.
I know that life is an amazing journey. I saw it on a plaque somewhere.
But I believe the answer to the question, “What is it that I am here for?” – and pursuing that – is what makes me happy right now.
Before I tell you what I am here for…ponder, what are you here for?
What do you believe is your life’s journey? I do believe life is an amazing journey when we live it with as much happiness as we dare to experience, seek out and give thanks for.
Without exception, happiness improves living at every stage. To see our very own life as an amazing journey that we get to lead and choreograph with happiness, I think it is helpful to lean into the pomp and ceremony of key dates on the calendar.
Embrace the New Year with personal reflection, giving your focus to the aspects of life that fascinate and make you genuinely happy.
This Happy New Year call-out is a call to adventure.
To embark on the amazing 2011 journey that awaits you, let Ernest Hemingway’s words inspire you: “Write the truest sentence you know.”
Complete the following sentence: “I am here based on an interest in _______________________.”
I am here based on an interest in uplifting audiences around the world with stories.
Happy New Year!
