Ross Jefferson is the new president and chief executive officer of Destination Halifax. He has over fifteen years of management experience, including five years as executive director of Discover Saint John in New Brunswick.

“Mr. Jefferson brings strong leadership skills and tourism expertise to Team Halifax,” said Jeff Ransome, chair, Destination Halifax Board of Directors. “I am confident that he will lead Destination Halifax to continued success.”

In 2010, Jefferson led the development of Discover Saint John, where he commissioned the new agency and led a team of professionals providing destination marketing services and marketing the region to national and international markets. He has also worked within the JD Irving group of companies and as general manager of the Saint John Waterfront Development Corporation.

“I am proud to promote Halifax as Canada’s premier travel destination,” said Jefferson. “It is a privilege to lead this talented team and to build on the strong reputation of the Destination Halifax brand.”

The role of president and CEO involves leading the development, implementation and evaluation of a long term strategy aimed at building the economic potential of tourism for the Halifax region.

Jefferson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, a professional designation in Project Management, and an Executive MBA from The University of Western Ontario’s Richard Ivey School of Business. He is currently completing his ICD designation with the Institute of Corporate Directors at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
