Attendance was up at the 2013 edition of EIBTM, the Global Meetings & Events Show, reports organizer Reed Travel Exhibitions.
The show, which was held November 19-23 in Barcelona, Spain, saw a 7.7 per cent increase in trade visitor attendance, 40 per cent of whom were new visitors. In addition, the show’s exhibitors benefited from more than 65,000 pre-scheduled appointments.
According to Graeme Barnett, senior exhibition director, Reed Travel Exhibitions, the new initiatives implemented at the show and efforts put in to securing qualified hosted buyers and increasing trade visitors, helped contribute to a sense of revived optimism on the show floor.
“We have also received overwhelming positive feedback from exhibitors and buyers about our new show floor layout and additional networking areas,” said Barnett. “By the end of the show we had already re-booked more than 35 per cent of the floor for 2014.”
The renewed industry confidence seen on the trade show floor was reinforced by two major research reports presented onsite including the findings of Rob Davidson’s EIBTM Industry Trends Report (www.eibtm.com/trendsreport), and The Right Solution’s IBTM Global Research. Both recorded increased levels of optimism as the meetings and events industry continues to remain “critical drivers assisting organisations in their efforts to reach their strategic business objectives”.
The extended EIBTM Live program, which built on the 2012 Hybrid Conference, streamed sessions furthering the reach of the EIBTM Knowledge Programme and FRESH conference sessions globally with tweets coming in from as far as Canada, Switzerland, Italy and Netherlands. New content for over 100 dedicated seminars and workshops completed this year’s professional education.
The 2014 edition of EIBTM will run November 18-20 in Barcelona, Spain.
