G20 Survival Guide

The Toronto Star has put together a guide to help you survive the G20 summit that lands in Toronto later this week.

June 22, 2010

Later this week – June 25-27, to be precise – the G20, the mother of all summits, will land in our backyard. If you must come into the city for a meeting or event, here is a survival guide, courtesy of The Toronto Star, to help you manoeuvre through all the security zones, protesters, bank closures and traffic delays that are expected to paralyze the downtown core this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Whatever you do, don’t drive. If you can’t resist the urge to get behind the wheel, remember to leave lots of time to get to your Toronto destination whether it’s in the city or not.

Even before you hit downtown, expect significant delays on the major thoroughfares Friday to Sunday (especially the Gardiner and Highway 427) thanks to G20 leaders’ motorcades, and their significant police presence, travelling to and from Pearson Airport. More than 80 motorcades are expected over the summit’s three days.
