Green Key Global and La Tablée des Chefs have formed a partnership with the mandate of mobilizing more hotels in the food waste cause.
Green Key Global is an environmental certification body. Its flagship program, The Green Key Eco-Rating Program has been evaluating and certifying properties in North America and beyond on the scope of their sustainable initiatives for 15 years. The Green Key Meetings Program was launched in 2011 and caters to the needs of the meetings and events industry. The Green Key Programs were designed specifically for the lodging industry by the Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) and are delivered under the banner of Green Key Global.
The mission of Montreal-based La Tablée des Chefs is to feed and educate people about food. It has actively taken on the issue of food waste. Through the partnership, Green Key Global will advise hotels of the services available from La Tablée des Chefs.
In turn, when a hotel wants to be environmentally responsible by giving a second life to ready-to-eat surpluses, La Tablée des Chefs will pair the property with a local food shelter and will help with the food recovery logistics.
The efforts invested by hotels in the reduction of food waste will be recognized in the Green Key Eco-Rating Program.
