Hilton London Metropole, one of the biggest conference and events hotels in Europe, has completed the first phase of its $9.1 million lobby transformation. It is the first property in the United Kingdom to incorporate the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brands’ new lobby design narrative, which provides “smartly-designed and functionally-relevant lobby spaces.”
The two-phase refurbishment was designed by Aukett Fitzroy Robinson. The first phase includes a new lobby bar—EDG Bar & Lounge—and a 22-cover Whisky Lounge. The second phase, which is scheduled to be completed in August 2013, consists of the installation of double-height glass entrances.
As part of the lobby renovation, the mezzanine-level meeting rooms will also undergo renovations, including the creation of an octagonal-shaped meeting room, seating up to 18 delegates boardroom style, with floor to ceiling windows on six sides. An additional mezzanine meeting room can hold up to 40 people.
When completed, the refurbishment will increase the lobby floor space by 60 per cent and double the number of restaurant and bar options.
