Hilton’s Doubletree Hotels are now offering digital gifts, in the form of exclusive discounts, to people who virtually check-in on geo-location-based social networks.
As of last week, those who use social networking services such as Twitter, Foursquare, Facebook Places or Gowalla, belong to Topguest and virtually connect with Doubletree will receive exclusive discounts, which can be redeemed by the social media user, or shared with a friend.
Topguest CEO Geoffrey Lewis expressed confidence that the concept will only increase in popularity as more hotels come on board.
InterContinental Hotels Group was the first hotel chain to team up with the New York-based startup in July 2010. The arrangement lets Priority Club members who belong to Topguest earn up to 50 hotel loyalty points per day for virtually “checking in” at any IHG hotel. As with this deal, Topguest users don’t need to actually pay for a hotel room.
Last week, Topguest launched new partnerships with big brands including Virgin America Elevate, Hilton HHonors and Wyndham Rewards.
