Industry Projections Remain Solid: MPI Report


DALLAS — Meeting and event industry projections remain solidly positive as planners and suppliers adapt and learn to thrive in the evolving seller’s market landscape, according to the latest installment of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) quarterly Meetings Outlook special report, it was announced Aug. 1.

Key findings include the following:

The past year has seen a 12 per cent drop in respondents that project positive growth for upcoming live event attendance (down from 62 per cent); yet live and virtual attendance figures are still expected to grow 1.5 per cent and 2.5 per cent, respectively.

Thirty per cent of respondents are avoiding destinations that have laws prohibiting universal restroom use, while 19 per cent are avoiding locations with liberal handgun or weapons laws.

Sixty-three per cent of respondents predict favorable business conditions for the year ahead.

Twenty-seven per cent of respondents said political elections have a significant influence on meetings and events.
