Kurtis Kolt joins Vancouver’s Rosewood Hotel Georgia as wine consultant.

Kolt’s responsibilities include creative development of a custom wine programme and leveraging creative opportunities to highlight the hotel’s history and local significance.

His programme will lead with varietals from celebrated B.C. wineries and will also feature unique and interesting bottlings from around the world. His responsibilities also include incorporating an in-depth staff-training programme.

The development and production of the wine programme for Rosewood Hotel Georgia will be tailored to the hotel’s venues, which include Prohibition cocktail lounge and “1927” lobby bar.

A contributing writer to Wine Access Magazine and a judge of numerous wine competitions, Kurtis Kolt has earned recognition and accolades among colleagues and peers alike, receiving “Sommelier of the Year” from both the 2010 Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival and Vancouver Magazine.

Recently, he was named one of Western Living Magazine’s “Top 40 Foodies Under 40”.

The Rosewood Hotel Georgia is expected to open May 7.
