Las Vegas Observation Wheel Completes First Phase of Construction, Breaks Ground on Retail/Dining Component

SkyVue will offer panoramic views of Las Vegas' Strip.

SkyVue, a 500-sq.-ft. observation wheel taking shape on the Las Vegas Strip, has completed the first phase of construction and has broken ground on its retail and dining component.

Situated across from Mandalay Bay, SkyVue will offer unobstructed panoramic views of the Strip. Each side of the wheel will feature a 50,000-sq.-ft. LED screen that will broadcast concerts, sporting events and product launches.

In addition, the observation wheel’s 32 glass-walled gondolas will be available for corporate events.

The two-storey shopping and dining area will house 140,000 sq. ft. of retail space, a 21,000-sq.-ft. convention facility and a food court.

SkyVue will be the largest observation wheel in the Western Hemisphere and the first attraction of its kind in Las Vegas.

The development is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2013.
