Le Méridien New Orleans, located across the street from Hurrah’s Casino, near the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and within walking distance of the hotels, restaurants and shops of the city’s famed French Quarter, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2014.
Currently operating under the Starwood’s W brand and purchased by Chesapeake Lodging Trust earlier this year, the hotel is undergoing a comprehensive $29 million renovation and conversion prior to unfurling the Le Méridien flag. The transition includes 410 fully-renovated guestrooms and suites, an upgraded fitness center, rooftop pool, a newly-redecorated restaurant and over 13,000 square feet of meeting space configured into 13 different rooms.
The hotel’s restaurant and lounge, along with all other public areas, are being transformed to implement Le Méridien brand elements and signature offerings including the Le Méridien Hub™ experience, which replaces the traditional lobby with a social gathering place for creative minds.
Le Méridien is a Paris-based hotel brand currently represented by 100 properties in more than 40 countries and undergoing rapid expansion. New hotels have recently opened in Istanbul, Arlington (Virginia, USA), Koh Samui (Thailand) and Taipei and, in the works, are properties in Bali, Atlanta, Chicago, Zhengzhou (China), Ho Chi Minh City, Cairo, Qingdao (China), and Dhaka (Bangladesh).
