The global economic slowdown has translated into steep declines in incentive travel and demand for conferences and meetings in Europe.
However, low fuel prices, industry price discounts and strong government responses provide hope that by the third quarter of 2009, European business-travel demand may begin to stabilize.
This, according to European Tourism 2009: Trends & Prospects, produced by the European Travel Commission (ETC)’s Market Intelligence Group (MIG), the first in a series of quarterly reports on tourism trends.
