Former media advisor to Bill and Melinda Gates, Monica Harrington, kicked off Day Two in the general session.
Harrington has held positions at Microsoft, was chief marketing officer for two successful technology start-ups and served on the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
She spoke to a packed room about chasing crazy ideas – with calculated risk. Ensuring you have passionate people around you will help you and your organization take risks.
We also need to celebrate our failures, since the lessons learned will allow future ideas to succeed.
Also happening today is the Community Service Project: Make a Difference Day – Supporting ‘Save the Children Mexico.’
Attendees are encouraged to make cash donations and also pitch-in and make murals for the children to enjoy.
With 70 per cent of the children in the Cancun area ‘temporarily abandoned’ each day as parents go to work, Save the Children Mexico provides a network of playing centres, where girls and boys can go instead of being on the streets or home alone.
Tonight is the first-ever TradeDifferent event.
A type of trade-show-meets-cocktail reception, this three-hour event is happening in and around the main pool and beach area.
Attendees can make their way through the evening visiting different themed areas provided by 16 suppliers to the industry.
