The new Ottawa Convention Centre opened April 13, 2011.
The much-anticipated Ottawa Convention Centre is completed and open for meetings, conventions, conferences and events in the capital city’s downtown core. The convention facility’s bold, modern design is an enchanting addition to the Canadian meetings landscape. Its seven-storey high sweeping window façade faces the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and encourages a bright, naturally-lit interior.
The Ottawa Convention Centre offers 192,000 sq. ft. of usable space, including 28 meeting rooms, a 56,000-sq.-ft. multipurpose hall which can accommodate 6,260 theatre-style and 4,600 banquet style. A 21,300-sq.-ft. ballroom provides views of Parliament Hill.
The centre is connected to the 496-room Westin Ottawa Hotel and the Rideau Centre shopping complex. More than 6,000 downtown hotel rooms are located within walking distance. A two-storey underground parking facility provides 737 spaces for convention delegates.
