Montego Bay Convention Facility Expected By January, 2011

The $51.7-million Montego Bay Convention Centre, in Rose Hall, St. James, is expected to open in time to host Caribbean Market Place in January, 2011, in the view of Jamaican minister of tourism Edmund Bartlett.

The $51.7-million Montego Bay Convention Centre, in Rose Hall, St. James, is expected to open in time to host Caribbean Market Place in January, 2011, in the view of Jamaican minister of tourism Edmund Bartlett.

Addressing a press conference at the Rose Hall Resort and Spa in Montego Bay, Bartlett announced that Marketplace 2011 will be the first event to be held at the facility, which is at an advanced stage of construction.

A 15-minute ride from Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport, the conference facility will feature 52,213 sq. ft. of exhibition space, divisible into two halls, accommodating 4,000 people, theatre-style.

Meeting space will total 11,334 sq. ft., with the largest room accommodating 700.

The banquet hall will offer 20,925 sq. ft., divisible into three sections, with a capacity of 2,000 people.
