Members of Meeting Professionals International’s (MPI) Atlantic Canada Chapter took to the ice to raise funds for MPI’s chapter grant program.
The chapter participated in the new MPI Foundation Chairman’s Challenge 5K by skating on the Emera Oval in Halifax, Nova Scotia on February 26, 2015.
The event garnered the chapter a number of “firsts.” It was the only, and first, Canadian chapter to participate in the just-launched program. It was the first Challenge 5K to be held. And it was the first to be held on ice.
“I was very proud of our chapter members who participated in the 5K skate on the Oval,” said Nadine Poirier, president of the MPI Atlantic Canada Chapter. “We are very lucky to have such a great facility here in Halifax to host our unique rendition of the ‘5K Can Go A Long Way’ Chairman’s Challenge. It was great to get out in the fresh air to exercise as well as support the MPI Foundation and raise funds to increase professional development opportunities for our chapter.”
The chapter was one of 21 MPI chapters committed to the challenge of raising funds towards the Chapter Grant program. A percentage of the funds raised go back to participating chapters to produce educational programming within the chapters locally.
