There are three things you can count on when you attend the MPI Ottawa Prix Prestige Gala.
Number One: A great theme, but more importantly, attendees who are really into the theme! This year’s theme: Release your Inner Bond. The men were looking dapper in their tuxes and the women were glammed up in their flowing gowns, sequins and classy fitted tuxes.
Number Two: The emcee, Stuntman Stu, a local celebrity (part of the morning team at Majic 100 as well as the PA announcer for the Ottawa Senators). This year Stu was our own personal James Bond for the evening. What really sets him apart as an emcee is how he interacts with and engages the audience. He encourages audience participation and asks the crowd to send him tweets that he then reads out making for a fun, laid back and pretty hilarious evening. An emcee can make or break an event and every year, Stuntman Stu is definitely part of what makes this Gala so lively and entertaining.
Number Three: Last and certainly not least, what the night is all about: honouring and recognizing the people who work so hard throughout the year to make this industry and community what it is. As I listened to each recipients’ acceptance speech, the common thread was that they wouldn’t do what they do or be where they are without the support and encouragement of the other members. This chapter of MPI really is connected, they support one another on a business level as well as a personal level. Isn’t that what our business is all about? Bringing people together to make the world a better place. Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners who help make the world a better place!
