At WEC 2010, in Vancouver, MPI introduced the Clean the World programme into Canada.
Meeting Professionals International (MPI) continues its year-long association with social enterprise Clean the World, focusing on the communities in which planners organize meetings and events.
Based in Orlando, Fla., Clean the World collects, recycles and distributes hotel soaps and bottled amenities to help stop the spread of preventable diseases in countries around the world.
At last year’s World Education Congress (WEC), in Vancouver, MPI introduced Clean the World into Canada.
More than 400 pounds of soap were collected during WEC 2010 on behalf of Clean the World, and an additional 2,000 pounds of soap were collected in the first two months of operation in Canada.
Clean the World operates two Canadian recycling centres, in Vancouver and Toronto.
In two years, the organization has distributed more than 8-million soap bars to children and families in nearly 45 countries, most of which were collected from more than 1,000 hotel partners throughout North America.
Attendees at WEC 2011, July 23- 26, in Orlando, can go offsite to help process soap at Clean the World’s headquarters.
