Myrtle Beach Getting New Resort & Conference Center

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is getting a new resort and conference center. Hilton Worldwide announced the ground-breaking for the Homewood Suites Oceanfront Resort & Conference Center in mid-November. It  is expected to open in spring 2016.

The first and only Homewood Suites in the 399 chain that is an oceanfront property, it will share pools and amenities with the Hampton Inn Oceanfront next door, making it Hilton’s only dual-branded oceanfront hotel.

The $25 million property will have 100 suites including a mix of two bedroom, one bedroom and studios all with kitchens and private balconies. Shared amenities will include a  12,000-square-foot convention center with a 300-person capacity;  three pools; a fire pit; fitness center; women-only Pilates-aerobics room; on-site chapel; and a bistro serving sandwiches and snacks.

Other developments in the popular sun and golf destination include:

Renovation of the former terminal concourse at Myrtle Beach International Airport into a fully-functional airline and passenger handling area opening up two additional gates in late 2015. The renovation will include new amenities, circulation space and improving the outside facade to blend in with the look of the $300 million passenger terminal completed in early 2013. In addition to these improvements, additional parking spaces will be available and the runway will be resurfaced. The target date for the project completion is December 31, 2015.

The opening of a $12.4 million Indoor Sports Complex  adjacent to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center in February 2015. The complex will include eight basketball courts, 16 volleyball courts, a café and retail area, and entertainment zone complete with a climbing wall and a 1,500-seat telescopic bleacher system configurable for numerous indoor sports.
