The University of British Columbia (UBC) and alumni UBC have announced the soft opening of the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre at UBC.
“This inspiring facility is a springboard for learning, meeting, celebration and mentorship,” says Jeff Todd, executive director, alumni UBC. “It will be the permanent Vancouver campus home of UBC alumni for life, offering new opportunities for our alumni to engage with each other and their university; gives students a chance to interact with the lifelong community they will be joining; and illuminates the many ways that alumni are powerful contributors to a better world and an exceptional UBC. While built for UBC alumni, the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre’s spectacular event spaces are available to everyone.”
The 41,700-square-foot facility, which is located on the UBC Vancouver campus at the corner of University Boulevard and East Mall, offers event spaces ranging from 350 square feet to 4,700 square feet, the largest of which can accommodate up to 400 people reception-style and 300 seated.
The building was designed to accommodate meetings, conferences, workshops, trade shows, product launches, fundraisers, cocktail receptions, corporate parties, weddings and special events. Revenue generated from facility rentals will be reinvested into alumni UBC programming.
The centre’s features include:
- state-of-the-art technology including audio, video projection, telecommunication services, digital signage and video/web conferencing
- catering from a full list of partners and a full catering kitchen onsite
- dedicated event and front-of-house team who will support the entire planning process and coordinate add-ons such as customized learning opportunities and guided campus tours
In addition to event space, the centre houses classrooms, social spaces, a café and a lounge library.
