Studio Gaia designed the Scarpetta Toronto space.
Scarpetta, the much-lauded Italian restaurant from New York celebrity chef Scott Conant, has opened in the Thompson Toronto hotel, after construction hiccups delayed its planned May launch.
Under a multi-year management contract, Conant will oversee the 120-seat Toronto location, which has been designed by New York-based Studio Gaia.
As with its New York counterpart, the Toronto location serves rustic Italian fare. Signature dishes include moist-roasted baby goat; spaghetti with tomatoes and basil; and creamy polenta with fricassee of truffled mushrooms.
Open for dinner seven days a week, the restaurant showcases local suppliers and purveyors, and could become a go-to venue for meeting and event planners. A lobby bar opens daily at 4:00 p.m., serving featured selections from the menu.
Scarpetta’s private room seats 18.
